Please bear with staff as this is an uncertain time, we are doing our best to adhere to all Executive Orders set forth by Governor Lamont and the recommendations of The Department of Health.
The following safety protocols have been put in place for your safety as well as the safety of others:
Signage will be posted with instructions for conducting business in the Town Office Buildings
Hallways are marked for Social Distancing
Shields have been installed at public counters
Face Masks are required to be worn while in the building
We have established One-way foot traffic entering the North Side of the building and exiting the South Side
The lower entrance should be used to conduct business with the Tax Collector/Assessor.
Only 1 visitor will be permitted to enter the office at a time (please limit to 1 person entering the building per transaction)
We will have sanitizer available in each office
Disinfecting protocols will take place between visitors in that respective department

The Revenue Collector for the Town of Hebron reminds taxpayers Tax Bills will be MAILED June 30th, and may be paid July 1, 2020 through October 1, 2020 (Escrow Companies will have until August 3rd) The bills are for taxes levied on the Grand List of October 1, 2019. Real Estate tax bills over $250 are due and payable in two equal installments on July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021. Motor Vehicle, Personal Property in addition to Real Estate bills under $250 will be due in a single installment. Real Estate bills due in two installments, please remember the July bill is the only bill you will receive. It has payment coupons for both July 2020 and January 2021. If you feel you should have received bill and have not by July 10, please contact our office to obtain a copy. State Statutes dictate that failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax or when it will be considered delinquent.
Taxes may be paid through October 1, 2020 without penalty. Payments received/postmarked after October 2nd, 2020 will be subject to interest retroactively to the July 1st due date in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes. Initial interest starting October 2nd is 6% of the principle due with a minimum of $2.00 per tax account.
Checks are made payable to: Town of Hebron. Payments may be mailed to: Tax Collector, 15 Gilead Street, Hebron, CT 06248. A drop-off box is located on the lower level, south side of the building for payments. Please see the town website www.hebronct.com for on-line payment options and instructions. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we are strongly urging all residents to utilize one of the above listed methods to pay contact-free. If a receipt is required, please contact our office and we will mail you one.
The Collector’s office is located in the lower level of the Town Hall at 15 Gilead Street. Our tentative re-open date is July 6, 2020 hours are Monday to Wednesday 8:00am to 4:00pm, Thursday 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Friday 8:00am to 1:00pm, this is subject to change as we are adhering to all orders set forth by Executive Orders signed by Governor Lamont or Department of Health recommendations. Additionally, the Tax and Assessor’s Office is closed for lunch Monday – Thursday from 12:30 – 1:15.
Please Note: We will make every effort to wait on you safely and efficiently. To that end, only 1 visitor will be permitted at a time in the Tax Office in adherence with Social Distancing Guidelines. All who enter the building are required to wear a face mask while remaining in the building, with one-way foot traffic entering on the north side of the building and exiting of the south side (this is being done for your safety and the safety of others). If you have any question or concerns regarding these requirements we ask that you contact us prior to coming to Town Hall.
The Town of Hebron will observe Independence Day on July 3, 2020. Through press releases and our website we will keep you posted of any updates/changes. Have a happy, fun and safe summer!

Real Estate tax bills of less than $250, Personal Property tax bills, and Motor Vehicle tax bills shall be due in a single installment on July 1, 2020. Real Estate tax bills over $250 shall be due and payable in two equal installments on July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021.

Payments received/postmarked after October 1, 2020 will be subject to interest of 1.5% per month or 18 % annually from the due date in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes. Initial interest starting October 2nd is 6% of outstanding taxes with a minimum of $2.00 per tax account. State Statutes dictate that failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax.

The Tax and Assessor’s Offices will close from 12:30 to 1:15 Monday – Thursday for lunch to accommodate a reduction in staff. Please plan to adhere to all safety measures which will be clearly posted prior to entering the building.
